Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the best option for visitors who do regular exercise and offers a wonderful 2 days walking along a path built by our ancestors.
The journey starts at 2 100m (6 890 feet), climbing up to 2 700m (8 829 feet) to sun gate, the highest point on the walk, and ends at 2 400m (7 874 feet), so there is no reason to worry about acclimatization or altitude sickness.
Inca trail 2 days is an alternative path to Machu Picchu, as well as the Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu, They are beautiful and challenging routes, but the most challenging route in Cusco is Choquequirao Trek to Machu Picchu
This is the shorter version of the famous and stunning Classic Inca trail 4 days for those who have less time but do not want to miss out on this unique trek.
Day 1: Cusco - Km 104 - Wiñaywayna - Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up at the hotel to take a two-hour train journey, getting off at the start of the 2 day Inca trail. Crossing the Urubamba River we reach Chachabamba, a small archeological site, well worth visiting.
After trekking uphill for another two hours we reach a large archaeological site located in a beautiful natural mountain setting, called Wiñaywayna, at 2,650m (8,690 ft). Next we walk on to Intipunku (Sun Gate) 2,700m (8,829 ft), where we get our first views of Machu picchu.
We then continue walking on down to Aguas Calientes, which is at 2,040m (6,692 ft), where we can enjoy the hot springs and one night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu - Cusco
We wake up early and eat breakfast at the hotel, then returning by bus to Machu picchu, (2,400 m - 7,474 ft) in time for sunrise, a truly magical experience.
There is then an extensive guided tour for two hours, after which you will have time to explore the city for yourself. In the afternoon we take an exciting train ride along the Urubamba valley, arriving back in Cusco after four hours.
